Overview

YT Shorts Frame by HVS is a Chrome browser extension that adds frame-by-frame playback navigation to YouTube Shorts. Using the comma (,) and period (.) keys, users can step through a paused Short one frame at a time.

This Privacy Policy explains what information the extension accesses, what it does with that information, and your rights as a user. The short answer: we collect nothing.

🛡️
Zero Data Collection — Always This extension does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data, browsing history, or usage information. Ever. No exceptions.
02

What the Extension Accesses

To function, the extension needs to interact with your browser in limited, specific ways. Here is a complete and honest list of what it accesses:

activeTab Reads the URL of the currently active tab only when you click the extension icon. This is used solely to display a status message in the popup (e.g., "You're on a Shorts page"). The URL is never stored or transmitted anywhere.
scripting Injects a small JavaScript file into YouTube pages. This script listens for keyboard presses and controls the video element's playback position. It cannot read your passwords, form inputs, or any personal information on the page.
youtube.com/* The content script is limited to running on youtube.com only. It activates its frame-step logic exclusively when the page URL contains /shorts/ — it is entirely dormant on all other YouTube pages and all other websites.

What We Do Not Collect

Browsing History No record of which websites you visit, which YouTube videos you watch, or which Shorts you view.
Usage Analytics No telemetry, crash reports, feature usage tracking, or analytics of any kind. We have no idea how often you use the extension.
Keystrokes The keyboard listener only checks if the key pressed is , or . on a Shorts page. No keylogging. No other keys are read or recorded.
04

Network Requests

This extension makes zero network requests. It does not connect to any server, API, or third-party service. It does not phone home to any backend. All processing happens entirely within your browser on your local machine.

You can verify this yourself using Chrome DevTools → Network tab while the extension is active. You will see no outbound requests originating from the extension.

05

Third-Party Services

This extension does not integrate with, communicate with, or share data with any third-party services, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or data brokers. There are no SDKs, tracking pixels, or external libraries loaded at runtime.

06

The extension does not use localStorage, chrome.storage, IndexedDB, cookies, or any other persistence mechanism. No data is written to your disk. When you close the YouTube tab, nothing about your session is retained.

07

Children's Privacy
